Canadian pop punk rockers are in the midst of the farewell tour.

The Santander Arena in Reading, PA, was ablaze with energy on May 8th, 2024, as SUM 41 brought their farewell tour, the Tour Of The Setting Sum, to the venue for their first and last performance there. With openers The Interrupters and Joey Valance, the stage was set for a night of explosive pop punk, rap, and ska, turning Reading into a massive farewell party for the Canadian rockers.
Kicking off the night was Joey Valance, whose infectious 80's style rap songs, alongside duo mate Brae, ignited the crowd from the get-go. Hailing from Penn State University, these YouTube sensations left an indelible mark on first-time fans, setting the stage for what was a huge night to come.

Following suit were the California pop punk/ska stars The Interrupters, led by the dynamic Aimee Allen, aka Aimee Interrupter. From the moment they hit the stage, it was evident that this was going to be a night to remember. With their boundless energy and a catalog brimming with infectious tunes, The Interrupters delivered a set that was nothing short of electrifying. The Bivona brothers, Kevin, Jesse, and Justin, captivated the audience with their literal high-flying performance, while Aimee's vocals soared above the infectious melodies.

Their hour-long set was a rollercoaster of emotions, filled with sing-along jams and playful covers ranging from Bob Marley's "Judge Not" to Billie Eilish's "Bad Guy" with a short tease of The Outfiled's "Your Love" and an electrifying bit of Eddie Van Halen's legendary "Eruption" solo masterfully and playfully nailed by Kevin Bivona during band intros all of which had the crowd yearning for more.
But the night belonged to SUM 41, the Canadian rockers who took the stage by storm, delivering a career-spanning set that left no stone unturned. From the anthemic "Still Waiting" to the iconic "Fat Lip" and "In Too Deep," every song was a testament to their enduring legacy in the pop punk scene. With pyrotechnics, confetti, and lasers adding to the spectacle, SUM 41's performance was a sight to behold, showcasing their veteran prowess and undeniable stage presence.

As they wrapped up their 24-song set including covers of Queen's "We Will Rock You" and Johnny Cash's "Ring Of Fire," with a three-song encore, SUM 41 bid farewell to their loyal fans in grand style. It was a night of nostalgia, celebration, and pure rock and roll magic, reminding everyone why they fell in love with music in the first place.

In conclusion, the Tour Of The Setting Sum was more than just a concert; it was a passing of the torch moment with the veterans bringing the "kids" along for a lesson on longevity and passion for their music and fans. Whether it be Joey Valance or The Interrupters either can only hope to one day get to go out in the same fashion as SUM 41 is in the process of doing on their final tour. The night will be etched in the memories of those lucky enough to have been in attendance. As SUM 41 takes their final bow, their legacy will continue to live on through their music, forever immortalized in the hearts of thier fans around the world.
If the Tour Of The Setting Sun is about to come through your town, don't miss out! Life is short, grab those tickets!
