PRONG and VOIVOD Bring Decades of Metal Mastery to Stroudsburg's Sherman Theater


The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA, bore witness to a monumental clash of metal titans as Prong and Voivod concluded their latest tour on Sunday night. The evening was charged with electrifying energy, as fans gathered to experience the raw power and timeless sound of two iconic bands from the heavy metal scene.

Prong, who emerged from the New York hardcore scene of the late 80's, kicked off the night with a ferocious display of their trademark intensity. Led by the enigmatic Tommy Victor, Prong unleashed a blistering setlist that spanned their illustrious 35-year career. From their roots in the New York hardcore scene to their evolution into a genre-defying force, Prong captivated the audience with their dynamic sound and unrelenting stage presence.

Victor's high-energy prescence combined with Jason Christopher's thunderous basslines and Tyler Bogliole's powerhouse rhythms on the drums made the band's performance nothing short of mesmerizing for their fans, both young and old in attendance.

Drawing from their latest release, 'State of Emergency', Prong showcased their versatility with a searing cover of Rush's classic anthem, "Working Man" along with classic metal hits including "Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck" and "Third From the Sun" ignited mosh pits and fueled the crowd's fervor, cementing Prong's status as legends of the metal scene.


Victor told the crowd in Stroudsburg that Prong's first tour in 1990 was opening for Voivod and that the band had always wanted to sound like a mix of Voivod and Killing Joke before thanking all in attendance for making it all possible, drawing a huge round of applause.

Following Prong's explosive set, Canadian metal pioneers Voivod took the stage with an aura of mystique and reverence. With a career spanning over four decades, Voivod has continually pushed the boundaries of metal, blending speed, progressive, and thrash metal into a singular sonic tapestry. Led by founding members Michel "Away" Langevin's thunderous drumming and Denis "Snake" Bélanger's commanding vocals, Voivod delivered a masterclass in musical innovation.

From their early speed metal roots to their more progressive and technical compositions, Voivod's performance was a testament to their enduring creativity and influence. Tracks from their latest album, 'Morgoth Tales', resonated with the crowd, while classics like "Tribal Convictions" and "Fix My Heart" transported fans through the annals of metal history.

As the night reached its crescendo, Voivod unleashed their 1984 classic, "Voivod", a sprawling epic that encapsulates the band's ethos and legacy. With Daniel "Chewy" Mongrain's virtuosic guitar work and Dominic "Rocky" Laroche's thunderous basslines adding depth and dimension to the sound, Voivod left no doubt that they remain a force to be reckoned with in the metal pantheon.


On this night, fans at the historic Sherman Theater bore witness to a night of metal mastery as Prong and Voivod delivered unforgettable performances that celebrated the past, present, and future of heavy music.
